David Blaine In Manhattan

David Blaine, endurance artist performed his latest act in Central Park this past week, where he hung upside-down vertically for 60+ hours!

Both yesterday and Tuesday I ventured out into Manhattan to the Wollmen Rink at Central Park. My magician crew and I went to go see David Blaine's newest test of endurence: "The Dive of Death". Blaine is a great supporter of local magicians and has been a solid member of our community at Rouge Magic & Funshop in Queens. At almost all of his New York events, we have been there. Such as "Frozen In Time", "Drowned Alive" and "Vertigo", just to name a few. The night started out early just chilling at the shop, it was a pretty slow day and most of it was spent just hanging out and bumming around. At about 9:00pm was when all of us were gathered at the shop together, it was about nine of us, plus the two cameramen who were filming an independent documentary on the shop. We left in three seperate cars and headed into the city. We got there just close to 25-30 minutes later, and about 15 minutes to find our way from the enterance of the park to the Wollmen Rink. Once we got there, we all met up again. Blaine had been there upside down hanging and was about to be re-oriented slightly to have the blood circulate back to his lower body. The night was really fun, we got to do some of our close-up street magic to the people watching, and obv. got to talk and meet with Blaine [all while he is upside down, no less]. The poster and merch that they were selling was way too expensive for my taste. Luckily for me, there was four posters just hanging from the safety railings, swiftly I undid the ones I could, rolled them up and took them for my own ;]. All-in-all it was a good night, afterwards we piled into the van and headed back into Queens. We decided to eat at the Georgia Diner on Queens Blvd. I gotta tell ya, probably the funniest diner experience I've ever had! After we ordered our food, as we were waiting, there was a lady sitting across from us, obviously we were handing out flyers for our magic shows to whoever we could and the lady started taking a liking to it. So much so, that she called in, from the kitchen one of her friends who was a waitress there. So hilarious, this lady came over and said "Hey, I think I kow you from somewhere [pointing to Roger] You used to know my friend who worked at Waldbaums" then as she comes closer she goes "Oh no, wait a minute, you have an arm!" It was soo funny, we all couldn't help but crack up laughing! Like, who says that to someone? "I think I know you..." "...oh no wait, you have an arm!" So funny, such a good night. The night after when Blaine actually performed "The Dive of Death" was fun, but didn't hold as funny of a story as the night before. Get out of the house! Funny things are certain to happen! Thanks for reading!

Til next we meet...

note ya later!
